The Tahltan Central Government is the central administrative governing body for the Iskut Band and Tahltan Band located in Telegraph Creek, British Columbia. It represents approximately 5,000 members of the Tahltan Nation living on- and off-reserve.

OnTrack helps Members meet their employment and training goals. It features:

  1. Job postings uploaded by employers in the Talhtan region.
  2. Notifications to Members every time a new job is listed. With a simple click of a button, they can learn about the job and submit their resumes.
  3. A portfolio builder that lets Members document their skills and certifications, and create personalized resumes.
  4. Online assessments that measure Members’ job-readiness in areas such as reading, numeracy, writing, listening, and digital skills.
  5. Learning plans that provide Members with opportunities to develop skills.

ITA – Essential Skills Web Application

The Industry Training Authority (ITA) is the provincial crown agency that oversees British Columbia’s industry training and apprenticeship system.

The ITA web application helps people prepare to enter the apprenticeship program. It is designed for women, immigrants and Indigenous peoples who participate in specific training programs, but it is available to anyone for free. It features assessments and learning resources for more than 50 skilled trades.

La Cité College – Skills for Success

La Cité is the largest French-language college in Ontario. It offers more than 90 programs to some 5,000 full-time students from Canada and abroad.

On their French and English Skills for Success site, programs are grouped into six streams and each has its own suite of assessments.

  1. College readiness
  2. Trades and engineering
  3. Information technology
  4. Health service
  5. Administration and other
  6. Entrepreneur

Scores indicate whether a student likely has the foundational skills to be successful in their program of choice. If not, they are guided to additional learning resources to prepare them for their learning journey.

The College Sector Committee for Adult Upgrading (CSC) leads the Ontario college system in the creation of provincial resources, procedures and standards that meet the needs of adult learners.

SkillsMarker helps Ontarians develop the skills they need to succeed in school and at work. One of its unique features is more than 140 embedded American Sign Language (ASL) videos to support deaf and hard-of-hearing learners.

Douglas College is one of the largest public colleges in British Columbia. It is a leader in the field of essential skills and offers programs such as the Essential Skills Practitioner Training Certificate,  a unique six-course program offered in online, face-to-face or hybrid formats.

ECO Canada Assessment

ECO Canada provides training and certification for environmental professionals in Canada. They offer training courses, webinars and even online Bachelor and Masters degrees to make the most of industry opportunities.

ECO Canada’s Assessment measures skill gain in two areas: technical writing and presentation skills.

WEM – Essential Skills Manitoba

Workplace Education Manitoba (WEM) has been providing essential skills training since 1991. A business-labour partnership, it is a non-profit funded by the federal and provincial government to help Manitobans pursue their goals related to learning, the workplace and life.

WEM’s Essential Skills Manitoba (ESM) web application determine’s people’s readiness for training and employment in a wide variety of occupations.

Clearport – Success Readiness Test

Clearport International matches international workers and students with opportunities in Canada, and provides support to help them succeed.

The Success Readiness Test (SRT) provides Clearport with an accurate picture of their clients’ English proficiency, along with other foundational skills like numeracy. It also provides their clients with free resources to help build skills. Clearport clients come from a wide vareity of countries including Mexico, India, Nepal, Brazil, Dubai, Pakistan, Phillipines, and a number countries from the European Union.

SRT has been accepted at some embassies as they process applications for foreign workers to come to Canada.

OTEC – Essential Skills Assessment

The Ontario Tourism Education Council (OTEC) is Ontario’s leader in workforce innovation for the tourism and hospitality industry.

There are two versions of OTEC’s Essential Skills Assessment. One is used to research the effectiveness of their programming. The second is used by organizations and individuals interested in building a career in tourism and hospitality.
